Low Voltage Commercial Landscape Lighting

By: temp

There are a number of concerns that people have to deal with when it comes to figuring out the lighting systems that they use and one of the biggest commercial landscape lighting concerns that people tend to have has to do with the voltage of the particular unit that they happen to be using. Now, voltage is actually a layman term for the more scientific term of electrical potential difference. It is actually this electrical potential difference that creates the shock value of the electricity much in the same way that the height difference from the top to the bottom of the waterfall tends to create a lot of potential energy that is converted into heavy force should that water hit something at the bottom of the waterfall. This means that voltage is actually something that is very powerful and here are some things to keep in mind when it comes to the importance of using low voltage lighting systems.

Low voltage lighting systems are quite a bit safer than their high voltage counterparts. This is one of the things that come from the idea of higher voltage translating into higher potential. When you have a higher potential, what is ultimately going to result from that is the higher ability to administer a very severe shock to someone that is not practicing safety when they are handling the electrical circuits. Therefore, to cut down on these types of needless injuries, the use of low voltage lighting systems is very much encouraged. This does not mean that you absolutely have to use them, but at the same time it will ultimately be better for you and everyone else involved if you do.

Low voltage lighting systems are often cheaper than their high voltage counterparts. This is another idea that comes from the higher electrical potential running through the circuits. When that happens, you are going to have encouragement of circuit mechanics and therefore the purchasing of higher voltage circuits and lighting tools is definitely going to be more expensive than if you were just changing the voltage, but otherwise purchasing the same unit. It is also debatable as to whether or not the electricity cost would be different and in many cases it might definitely be the case.

Low voltage lighting systems are less prone to breaking down than their higher voltage counterparts. This one is actually somewhat of a conceptual common sense item, but at the same time it is still something that is worth mentioning. If you are truly interested in learning as much as you can about commercial landscape lighting in terms of voltage, then you need to know something about the general durability of the systems that you install. Higher voltage systems require a higher strain in order to operate and therefore the strain on them is going to be higher over a certain period of time. This means that higher voltage systems will break down and require maintenance more often; just one more reason as to why low voltage lighting systems are superior.
