Preventing Hair loss

Hair loss usually develops gradually and may be patchy or diffuse (all over). Losing hair can be stressful during a time when appearance really matters, but the good news is that hair loss that happens during the teen years is often temporary. About 30% of people have hair loss by age 30 years, and about 50% have hair loss by age 50 years. Hair loss is so common that most of the time it is considered a normal variation and not a disease. Hair loss may occur if male or female hormones, known as androgens and estrogens, are out of balance. Hormonal problems may cause hair loss. If your thyroid gland is overactive or underactive, your hair may fall out. This hair loss usually can be helped by treatment thyroid disease.

Eating a balanced, healthy diet is important for a lot of reasons, and it really benefits your hair. Medicines may also help slow or prevent the development of common baldness.

One medicine, minoxidil (brand name: Rogaine), is available without a prescription. Regular aerobic exercise can help keep androgen levels (particularly free testosterone levels) naturally lower while maintaining narrow health. Stress enlargement can be helpful in slowing hair loss. Polygonum Multiflorum is a traditional Chinese cure for hair loss. Don't rub your hair too vigorously with a towel, either. Many hair experts suggest you consider putting away the blow-dryer and air drying your hair instead. The oral medication Propecia (finasteride) is effective in some men. Hair transplants performed by a physician is a surgical departure to transferring growing hair from one part of the head to another. Hair weaves, hair pieces, or changes of hair style may disguise hair loss.

Hair loss Prevention Tips

1. Avoid excessive wind, sun, and heat (such as from hair dryers, hot showers, and curling irons) on your hair.

2. Avoid putting too much physical stress on your hair, brush/comb your hair gently

3. Vitamins, minerals and amino acids are a critical part of healthy hair and keeping that hair.

4. Using a mild shampoo on a regular basis to clean away extra proteins from your scalp helps keep your hair healthy.

5. Stop all chemical treatments immediately.

6. Choose hair style that requires less damaging hair care practices.

7. Use a conditioner and trim any split ends.
